Boreal is a great little ski area, plenty of fun runs and good snow. It's a lot smaller than most ski areas around here which is of course both good and bad. But for a resort of this size it's perfect. says Ken Smith.

There are 10 different ski lifts here, and they make for a comforting ride up the mountain. Boreal has a much lower than average fraction of advanced and expert trails and a much higher than average proportion of blue and green
| | ski trails. This ski mountain receives greater snowfall than the local average every snow season. Boreal has an acceptable collection of ski trails and a good number of good ski lifts. The striking annual snowfall of 33 feet is plenty for really perfect coverage. You get scores of skiers traveling up here from Truckee-Grass Valley on snowy weekends. A 500 foot drop is of course not that much, but Boreal compensates for it with other things. Not too many hotel rooms close at hand, you'll have to voyage a bit to get to one, | |

but you'd better reserve in advance of a trip given that these hotel rooms fill up swiftly. The snowboarding and the skiing in this part of the country is loads of fun all winter season long. All in all there are 41 ski slopes to pick from; there are more than
enough ski slopes for every capability. There's 380 acres of skiing area, and it's all blanketed by great snow. Boreal is a cozy ski resort with a rather small-size drop when compared to other west coast ski mountains. The mountaintops of the Northern Sierra Nevada
make for a splendid panorama. Boreal is a family friendly ski area with loads of beginner and intermediate trails. Whether you're skiing or snowboarding, this is a vicinity with plenty of ski areas for that. In winter the Northern Sierra Nevada is a total snowboarding
and skiing paradise. When this part of California is blanketed in good snow; it is the most majestic time of the year for snowboarding and skiing. A great workout and just hanging out with your skiing friends will have you coming back. This ski area has a good
collection of trails; there's no way to get bored here.
