Heavenly ski area, Northern Sierra Nevada, California
|
| | Heavenly is a mountain in two parts. One in NV and the other on the Lake in Tahoe. The Tahoe side gives you casinos and all the resort amenities. The NV side, reached by the Kingsbury Grade (a heck of a drive) is how the locals get to Heavenly and is barebones. You need to pay attention to where you are and when on this mountain because crossing from one side of the mountain to the other takes time and the right lifts which are all subject to closure (especially with the wind). So plan ahead. The Tahoe side has the |
|
bulk of the long runs and the views of the Lake. The NV side is more intricate and can be a refuge from the crowds as the entire state of CA seems to show up periodically. If you want to boom & zoom on your board stay on the Lake side. If you want to work it
| go to the NV side. Overall, a pretty good mix of runs, spectacular views and decent snow. When the map shows a catwalk expect to walk. Some of them are uphill and less than fun - again its worse when the wind is up. Ridgeline is tops for views. Board on. says Pat.
Broke my arm at Heavenly last year but I'm going back again this year. says Eddy Adams.
Heavenly is a larger than average ski hill in possession of a magnificent altitude difference if compared to other west coast ski hills. This ski | |

hill gets stronger snowfall than the local average each snow season. This ski resort has so much fluffy snow, 30 feet every season, and that is one of the reasons this is such a great ski resort. Heavenly has a fabulous selection of different ski trails and a
good choice of ski lifts. With a total of 94 slopes to ski on; there's a great array to please everyone. A great workout and just hanging out with your skiing pals attract ski people from far and wide. Whether you're skiing or snowboarding, this neighborhood has
a lot of ski resorts. There are 31 good ski lifts here, and they are satisfactorily maintained and run by pleasant people. Having 4,800 acres of ski terrain you will never be without ski terrain. Heavenly is a great ski hill with a lot of different ski runs; it's
just not possible to get bored here. This ski resort has an average ratio of expert and advanced runs and an average percentage of blue and green ski trails. The nearest ski hill having a higher altitude difference is 365 miles away. The snow blanketed mountains
of the Northern Sierra Nevada give this ski mountain an extraordinarily splendid landscape. This ski hill has a drop from top to bottom of 3,500 feet which is good. The picturesque vista of the California hills and all the good trails make the tour here worthwhile.
In winter the Northern Sierra Nevada is a splendid snowboarding and skiing destination. The snowboarding and the skiing in California is loads of fun all snow season long. There are several brilliant accommodations near the base area, but if you don’t have reservations,
you could end up sleeping in your automobile. Nothing beats the California mountains in wintertime; they are a splendid site for snowboarding and skiing.
