Heavenly ski area, Northern Sierra Nevada, California
|
| | Heavenly is a mountain in two parts. One in NV and the other on the Lake in Tahoe. The Tahoe side gives you casinos and all the resort amenities. The NV side, reached by the Kingsbury Grade (a heck of a drive) is how the locals get to Heavenly and is barebones. You need to pay attention to where you are and when on this mountain because crossing from one side of the mountain to the other takes time and the right lifts which are all subject to closure (especially with the wind). So plan ahead. The Tahoe side has the |
|
bulk of the long runs and the views of the Lake. The NV side is more intricate and can be a refuge from the crowds as the entire state of CA seems to show up periodically. If you want to boom & zoom on your board stay on the Lake side. If you want to work it
| go to the NV side. Overall, a pretty good mix of runs, spectacular views and decent snow. When the map shows a catwalk expect to walk. Some of them are uphill and less than fun - again its worse when the wind is up. Ridgeline is tops for views. Board on. says Pat.
Broke my arm at Heavenly last year but I'm going back again this year. says Eddy Adams.
The mind-boggling yearly snowfall of 30 feet is more than enough for genuinely great coverage. You have to go 365 miles to get to a ski mountain boasting | |
|
|
a bigger vertical drop. This ski mountain has an average proportion of advanced and expert runs and an average percentage of easy ski runs. The 31 different ski lifts here are in good shape. With a total of 94 runs to ski on; there are ample runs for every capability.
The Northern Sierra Nevada and its summits give this ski mountain a very tremendous landscape. Heavenly's height difference of 3,500 feet is great. With 4,800 acres of ski terrain you will never be deficient in skiing land. This is a more sizeable than average
ski area in possession of a perfect altitude difference when you compare it to other ski mountains in the region. Getting your skiing muscles activated and just hanging out with your skiing pals are fine reasons to come. There are some good hotel rooms close to
the main area, and if you make reservations in advance of a trip, you're all set. Heavenly receives greater snowfall than the local average every ski season. Heavenly has scores of ski runs and a great choice of different ski lifts. The skiing and the snowboarding
in this region is scores of fun the whole winter. Whether you're skiing or snowboarding, there are a lot of fine ski mountains for that close by. The grand mountain vista of California and marvelous runs make the tour here worthwhile. The summits of California
during ski season are a tremendous spot for snowboarding or skiing. Heavenly has a good pick of ski runs to match all abilities; there's no way to get bored here. The Northern Sierra Nevada in winter is a complete snowboarding or skiing heaven.
