Heavenly
|
| | Heavenly is a mountain in two parts. One in NV and the other on the Lake in Tahoe. The Tahoe side gives you casinos and all the resort amenities. The NV side, reached by the Kingsbury Grade (a heck of a drive) is how the locals get to Heavenly and is barebones. You need to pay attention to where you are and when on this mountain because crossing from one side of the mountain to the other takes time and the right lifts which are all subject to closure (especially |
|
with the wind). So plan ahead. The Tahoe side has the bulk of the long runs and the views of the Lake. The NV side is more intricate and can be a refuge from the crowds as the entire state of CA seems to show up periodically.
| If you want to boom & zoom on your board stay on the Lake side. If you want to work it go to the NV side. Overall, a pretty good mix of runs, spectacular views and decent snow. When the map shows a catwalk expect to walk. Some of them are uphill and less than fun - again its worse when the wind is up. Ridgeline is tops for views. Board on. says Pat.
Broke my arm at Heavenly last year but I'm going back again this year. says Eddy Adams.

ski slopes. Heavenly has a fabulous set of ski slopes and a lot of good ski lifts. Having a total of 94 slopes to ski on; there are ample slopes for every ability. The tremendous annual snowfall of 30 feet is one of the reasons this is such a delightful ski area. The snow covered peaks of the Northern Sierra Nevada make for a good view. Having such a full-size skiable territory, 4,800 acres in all you won't be short of skiing territory. This ski area gets blanketed

by stronger than average snow each snow season. All of the 31 good ski lifts will get you up the mountain efficiently. Heavenly has a glorious choice of runs to match all abilities; it's impossible to get bored here. No deficiency
of great places to stay, and if you make reservations previous to going, you're all set. This is a better size than average ski resort in possession of a heap of vertical feet compared to other west coast ski areas. Tremendous exercise
and an opportunity to spend some time in nature outclasses anything. The Northern Sierra Nevada covered in snow is a pure skiing and snowboarding heaven. Snowboarding and skiing in this part of California is lots of fun during the
snow season. In wintertime the California peaks are always good for skiing and snowboarding. The winter panorama of the California summits and the excitement of speeding down a slope make the trip here worthwhile. Whether you're skiing or snowboarding, in this general region, you'll find loads of ski areas.
