Mt. Baldy ski area, San Gabriel Mountains, California

(...) While the staff is great, and the locals are tremendous, this is a very advanced mountain with extremely challenging conditions that are nothing like anything else in Southern California. You cannot compare a slope like, say, Vertigo at Mountain High West, rated as a double-black diamond, with any double-black diamond at Baldy, where the slopes are far steeper and have numerous obstacles. While I found some really sweet powder their last week, the area is prone to very high winds, sheets of glassy ice where you
would never expect them, and even after a big snowfall, there are stretches of mud, dirt, and rocks. If you take training seriously, and are experienced, and you pay attention every single second, and you don't mind having the living crap scared out of you, you
can have a great time on this mountain. If you are lazy, drunk or inexperienced, be prepared to go home in a cast-- or a helicopter. --Ma says Matthew.

The Mt. Baldy Ski Patrol is the best ski patrol in the country and the mountain is absolutely fantastic! says Jay Reidy.

There are 4 lifts here, and they are fun to hitch a ride with. Mt. Baldy is a petite ski area with a medium drop from top to bottom if compared to other west coast ski mountains. This ski resort has an average fraction of demanding ski

runs and an average proportion of green and blue runs. Mt. Baldy has a decent assortment of runs and a small number of lifts. There's 400 acres of skiing territory, and it's all in tremendous shape. This ski mountain has snowfall close to the local average every season. The mountains of California in wintertime are a perfect place for snowboarding and skiing. You have to go 310 miles to get to a ski mountain in possession of a fuller-size height difference. The drop from top to bottom of 2,100 feet is beyond doubt inspiring. The 8 feet of wonderful snow that falls here yearly keeps the runs well covered throughout the winter. All the 28 runs here are totally fun. There's a ski map of Mt. Baldy on this page for your reference. The wonderful mountain view of California and the thrill of zipping down a slope are incentive enough to come here to ski. The close by accommodations are a bit away from the bottom of the hill, but if you don’t have reservations, you might end up snoozing in your car. The mountains of the San Gabriel Mountains in winter are a tremendously perfect place if you get pleasure from snowboarding and skiing. Good exercise and just being on the trails for a while attract snow people from near and far. Snowboarding and skiing in this part of California is so much fun every day of the snow season. The snow covered mountains of the San Gabriel Mountains is a vista worth seeing. As you're on this net page you are probably into skiing or snowboarding, either way, this region has many ski mountains.
