(...) While the staff is great, and the locals are tremendous, this is a very advanced mountain with extremely challenging conditions that are nothing like anything else in Southern California. You cannot compare a slope like, say, Vertigo at Mountain High West, rated as a double-black diamond, with any double-black diamond at Baldy, where the slopes are far steeper and have numerous obstacles. While I found some really sweet powder their last week, the area is prone to very high winds, sheets of glassy ice where you

    would never expect them, and even after a big snowfall, there are stretches of mud, dirt, and rocks.   If you take training seriously, and are experienced, and you pay attention every single second, and you don't mind having the living crap scared out of you,
you can have a great time on this mountain. If you are lazy, drunk or inexperienced, be prepared to go home in a cast-- or a helicopter. --Ma says Matthew.

This ski area has 400 acres of terrain, and all of it makes for tremendous skiing. No other ski mountain for 413 miles has a higher height difference. Mt. Baldy has an average part of hard trails and an average fraction of green

and blue ski runs. Mt. Baldy is a small ski area featuring a medium vertical drop compared to other west coast ski mountains. Mt. Baldy gets blanketed by snowfall close to the local average each ski season. You may have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the base zone if you want to spend the night, and if you make reservations before heading out, you're all set. Mt. Baldy has a decent array of ski runs and a somewhat humble amount of ski lifts. The 4 great ski lifts here are enjoyable to get a ride with. This ski mountain has 26 ski slopes, and they are striking. The 2,100 feet of vertical drop is fine. The pretty vista of the California mountains and the really tremendous ski runs are in themselves reason enough to come here to ski. Every season this ski area gets 8 feet of good snow, and that keeps the trails well covered during the season. Tremendous exercise and just hanging out with your skiing pals will have you returning for more. Whether you're skiing or snowboarding, there are lots of magnificent locations for that nearby. The skiing and the snowboarding in California is so much fun every day of the season. The best piece of info on this resort is of course the trailmap of Mt. Baldy on this internet page. The San Gabriel Mountains and its hills make for a fine scenery. The hills of the San Gabriel Mountains in winter are so gorgeous you won’t believe it. The California hills during ski season are always fine for skiing or snowboarding.
