Ski Sundown ski area, Connecticut
|
| | Sundown is a really good ski area for beginners and other skiers who prefer to take it a bit slow and just enjoy a day in the snow. says Jeff Hernandez.
I love Ski Sundown. From the momment you pull into the drive way you can feel something special about this new hartford based gem. Personally, I like terrain parks and feel that this place does the best job of creating features that are fun for me. luckily they make so much snow that you hardley even care that its in connecticut and doesnt get very much natural. |
I'd put this on my must ski list for southern new englanders says jarrod.
This ski hill has 5 feet of wonderful snow every winter, and that doesn’t sound like plenty, but it's quite okay. Ski Sundown has a comparatively humble collection of trails and
| | an ok selection of good ski lifts. Having 65 acres of skiable territory, it's fantastically friendly and petite. The 5 ski lifts here will get you up the slope efficiently. This ski area has a much lower than average ratio of red and black runs and a much higher than average ratio of intermediate or beginner trails. The 625 foot drop is naturally not that much to boast about, but all the other great properties of Ski Sundown make up for it. Ski Sundown has the most sizeable height difference for 26 miles. is a small-size ski resort boasting a roughly average vertical drop if compared to other east coast ski resorts. Snowboarding and skiing in this region is scores of fun the whole ski season. The 15 ski runs at this ski area are magnificent to ski on. Ski Sundown
gets covered by lower than average snow every ski season. Connecticut gets very lovely during ski season; it is truly a delightful time of year for skiing or snowboarding. Getting a great workout and just hanging out with your skiing friends are great incentives
to come. This is a fine site for young and old with loads of beginner and intermediate slopes. There aren’t any rooms around here, but if you're ok to go a short distance then no problem, but if you don’t have reservations, you may perhaps end up snoozing in your
car. Whether you're skiing or snowboarding, this is a region with a lot of ski areas for that.
Special features: 2 terrain parks, advanced and progressive, designated mogul trail, steepest terrain in Connecticut, snow skate park in base area, modern and spacious lodge with mountain view deck
