Ski Sundown ski area, Connecticut
|
| | Sundown is a really good ski area for beginners and other skiers who prefer to take it a bit slow and just enjoy a day in the snow. says Jeff Hernandez.
I love Ski Sundown. From the momment you pull into the drive way you can feel something special about this new hartford based gem. Personally, I like terrain parks and feel that this place does the best job of creating features that are fun for me. luckily they make so much snow that you hardley even care that its in connecticut and doesnt get very much natural. |
I'd put this on my must ski list for southern new englanders says jarrod.
No other ski hill for 26 miles has a higher drop from top to bottom. Ski Sundown has lower than average snow each winter season. With a skiable area of 65 acres, it makes for
| | a cozy skiing experience. This ski resort has a much lower than average share of advanced and expert ski runs and a much higher than average part of easy runs. This ski hill has 15 trails, and they are perfect to ski on. This ski hill has a comparatively small array of runs and a good pick of ski lifts. With a 625 foot altitude difference it's not the highest hill there is, but Ski Sundown compensates for it with other things. Some folks prefer skiing and some snowboarding, either way, around here, you'll bump into | |
|
loads of good ski mountains. The 5 lifts here are in perfect shape. This is a small ski resort in possession of a roughly average altitude difference when you compare it to other ski hills in the region. There aren’t any places to stay nearby, but if you're willing
to voyage a small distance then no problem, but do reserve a room before you go since it is a very popular destination. The seasonal snowfall of 5 feet doesn’t sound like a heap, but it's quite ok. Ski Sundown is a great ski area for the whole family with a load
of beginner and intermediate runs. Connecticut gets fantastically beautiful during snow season; it is so beautiful for snowboarding and skiing. You'll bump into a lot of skiers from Torrington here. Snowboarding and skiing in this region is a lot of fun during
the ski season. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with your skiing mates are good reasons to come.
Special features: 2 terrain parks, advanced and progressive, designated mogul trail, steepest terrain in Connecticut, snow skate park in base area, modern and spacious lodge with mountain view deck
