Cockaigne ski area, New York
| | I went skiing here about ten years ago or so and I fell down and it hurt real bad I remember. But other than that it was great. says Derek.
Cockaigne has a somewhat humble collection of trails and few ski lifts. There are 4 ski lifts here, and they are competently maintained and controlled by pleasant folks. A 430 foot elevation difference is unsurprisingly not that much, but Cockaigne has so many other brilliant characteristics. This is a petite ski hill with a more petite than average altitude difference compared |
to other east coast ski areas. The beautiful snow here becomes especially deep, 23 feet annually, and that is one of the reasons this is such a good ski hill. The annual snowfall is heavier than average at Cockaigne. The wintertime months in New York is truly
| | a glorious time of year for skiing or snowboarding. You might be into skiing or snowboarding, or both, doesn't matter, this region has lots of ski areas. This ski mountain has a much lower than average percentage of red and black runs and a much higher than average ratio of blue and green trails. Getting a bit of wonderful exercise and an opportunity to spend some time in nature are wonderful causes to come. This ski hill has 15 runs, and they are amusing to ski on. Cockaigne has the greatest altitude difference for 33 miles. | |
This ski resort has 100 acres of skiing territory, and it's all in great shape. A heap of skiers voyage up here from Jamestown-Dunkirk-Fredonia, specifically on the weekends. This is a tremendous ski mountain for everybody with plenty of beginner and intermediate
runs. The snowboarding and the skiing in New York is scores of fun during the winter season. There aren’t any places to stay close at hand, but if you're willing to drive a small distance then no problem, but if you don’t have reservations, you could end up slumbering in your automobile.
