Chestnut Mountain is a conventional size ski resort with an average altitude difference if compared to other mid west ski resorts. it's not the highest hill there is, but Chestnut Mountain has so many other great features. This ski area has a rather small set of slopes and not too many lifts. The 4 feet of wonderful snow that falls here every season doesn’t sound like a load, but it's rather
| | all right. The 17 ski slopes at this ski area are great. The 4 different ski lifts here will get you up the slope efficiently. Snowboarding and skiing in this part of Illinois is so much fun the whole winter season. The ski run map of Chestnut Mountain on this net page of course says a thousand words. There are loads of lodgings here if you want to spend a night, but do book a room before heading out as it is a very popular destination. and a much higher than average part of easy slopes. The nearest ski resort featuring a higher drop from top to bottom is 77 miles away. This is a good location for the whole family with lots of beginner and intermediate slopes. Lots of skiers travel up here from
Clinton, specially on the weekends. You might be into skiing or snowboarding, or both, doesn't matter, this region has scores of ski mountains.
