Granite Peak ski area, Wisconsin
|
| | This is a 4-5 hour drive from the n/w side of Chicago . . . and *definately* worth it. Some buddies and I go up for a few days every winter and I have to say, this is the best you're going to find without doubling your driving time or hopping on an airplane. says Andy.
i have lived and snowboarded in Colorado and Austria. For the Midwest only Lutsen in Minn. can be compared! The vertical keeps you challenged unlike the resorts in the U.P. and the rest of the Midwest! Only 3 hrs from Milwaukee!!! love |
it if you are in the Midwest and can't head WEST!!! says surfsno2001.
Granite Peak is I think the best ski area in the region. There are lots of runs for everybody. I like the black diamonds but my wife and kids like the blues and greens so this is perfect
| for us since it has plenty of all three. says Max.
There's 275 acres of terrain, and it's all covered by great snow. Granite Peak has a splendid collection of ski runs and an ok pick of different ski lifts. This is a great ski area in possession of a load of vertical feet if compared to other mid west ski mountains. The 6 feet of ice cold snow that fall here annually keeps the coverage good. Granite Peak has an average share of expert and advanced trails and an average ratio of green and blue ski runs. This ski | |

resort obtains less than average snow every winter season. A little bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time in the great outdoors will make you glad you came. This ski resort has 74 trails that you may ski on; there are plenty trails for every skill. There
are 8 great ski lifts here, and they are in great shape. Skiing and snowboarding in this part of the country is a good thing to do all winter season long. Wisconsin gets extremely gorgeous in wintertime; it is the most wonderful time of the year for snowboarding
or skiing. No other ski mountain for 646 miles has a higher drop from top to bottom. A 700 foot height difference is naturally not that much, but Granite Peak compensates for it by other means. This ski hill has a fine pick of ski slopes to suit all abilities;
there's no way to get bored here. A load of skiers go up here from Wausau, in particular on the weekends. There are a number of fine hotel rooms next to the main area, but do reserve a room before heading out since it is a very popular destination. You might be
into skiing or snowboarding, or both, doesn't matter, in this general area, you'll run into a lot of ski resorts.
Special features: 4 TERRAIN PARKS
