Granlibakken ski area, Northern Sierra Nevada, California
|
| | This ski mountain has a much lower than average share of difficult runs and a much higher than average fraction of blue and green ski slopes. Having a skiable terrain of 10 acres, it makes for an intimate skiing experience. Granlibakken is a more inviting than average ski resort in possession of a pretty small altitude difference when you compare it to other ski mountains in the region. The 300 foot elevation difference is of course not that much to talk about, but all the other good qualities of Granlibakken compensate |

for it. The winter months in California is the most splendid time of the year for skiing and snowboarding. The impressive seasonal snowfall of 17 feet is one of the reasons this is such a fine ski area. This ski mountain boasts snowfall close to the local average
| | every winter. Getting a brilliant workout and just being on the ski slopes for a while tops anything. Granlibakken has a somewhat small selection of ski slopes and quite few lifts. This is a wonderful place for the whole family with lots of blue and green trails for novices. If you'll be staying in a hotel, you're in luck, hotels are offered right next door to the base zone, but you'd better reserve before heading out in view of the fact that these hotels fill up fast. In winter the Northern Sierra Nevada is a pure skiing | |

and snowboarding delight. Lots of skiers travel up here from Gardnerville Ranchos, in particular on the weekends. This ski mountain is a petite ski mountain, and folks who work there are very kind. The Northern Sierra Nevada and its hills is a vista worth seeing.
The skiing and the snowboarding in this region is a good thing to do the whole winter. You may be into skiing or snowboarding, or both, doesn't matter, in close proximity, you'll discover scores of brilliant spots.
