Granlibakken ski area, Northern Sierra Nevada, California
|
| | I went here one time with my mom and dad when I was a little girl, it was so much fun. There were a lot of other kids skiing there also. says Fizz.
A 300 foot altitude difference is of course not that much, but all the other great characteristics of Granlibakken make up for it. Granlibakken has snowfall close to the local average every winter season. With 10 acres of skiable territory, it's more of a cozy style ski area. Granlibakken has a somewhat small range of ski slopes and few ski lifts. This ski hill has a much |

lower than average ratio of tough ski trails and a much higher than average percentage of beginner and intermediate ski slopes. Snowboarding and skiing in this part of California is a great thing to do every day of the season. This is a petite ski area having
| | a smaller than average drop from top to bottom compared to other west coast ski areas. The Northern Sierra Nevada and its summits make for a good view. This is a good site for the whole family with loads of intermediate or beginner trails. California gets very gorgeous in the winter; it is so gorgeous for skiing or snowboarding. The mind-boggling annual snowfall of 17 feet is one of the best characteristics of this ski resort. Granlibakken is a relaxed site managed by friendly people. Some people prefer skiing and some | |

snowboarding, either way, in this general vicinity, you'll bump into lots of ski hills. Heaps of skiers voyage up here from Gardnerville Ranchos, specially on the weekends. Some exercise and just being on the ski trails for a while will make you feel perfect.
The Northern Sierra Nevada in winter is a good place for skiing or snowboarding. Hotel rooms are offered close to the main area, but do book a room in advance of a trip as it is a very popular destination.
