Ski Sundown
| | Sundown is a really good ski area for beginners and other skiers who prefer to take it a bit slow and just enjoy a day in the snow. Says Jeff Hernandez.
I love Ski Sundown. From the momment you pull into the drive way you can feel something special about this new hartford based gem. Personally, I like terrain parks and feel that this place does the best job of creating features that are fun for me. luckily they make so much snow that you hardley |
even care that its in connecticut and doesnt get very much natural. I'd put this on my must ski list for southern new englanders Says Jarrod.
All 5 good ski lifts at this ski mountain are nicely kept up and managed by pleasant
| folks. Ski Sundown has a much lower than average fraction of red and black slopes and a much higher than average ratio of green and blue ski runs. This is a cozy ski area with an altitude difference that's something like average when you compare it to other ski mountains in the region. You have to go 26 miles to get to a ski mountain having a bigger elevation difference. The 15 runs at this ski hill are great. With 65 acres of skiing land, it's exceptionally likable | |

and petite. Getting some good exercise and just being on the ski slopes for a while will have you coming back for more. With a 625 foot drop it's not the tallest hill there is, but Ski Sundown compensates for it by other means. The
yearly snowfall is less than average at this ski resort. There aren’t any hotel rooms nearby, but if you're prepared to journey a short distance then no problem, but you'd better reserve before you go because these hotel rooms fill
up swiftly. The 5 feet of beautiful snow that falls here per season doesn’t sound like a load, but it's quite all right. This ski hill has a comparatively modest mixture of ski runs and a reasonable selection of lifts. When this sector
of Connecticut is blanketed in great snow; it is the most marvelous time of the year for skiing or snowboarding. Snowboarding and skiing in this region is lots of fun every day of the snow season. You get a lot of skiers traveling
up here from Torrington on snow covered weekends. You may be into skiing or snowboarding, or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with loads of places for that.
Special features: 2 terrain parks, advanced and progressive,
designated mogul trail, steepest terrain in Connecticut, snow skate park in base area, modern and spacious lodge with mountain view deck
