 Saddleback ski area Management Says:
New at Saddleback for '08-'09 Season
The Berry Family acquired Saddleback in 2003 and have since made significant improvements including a 46% increase in terrain, two quad chairlifts, new family/beginner area, spectacular post & beam base lodge, snowmaking coverage expanded to 85%, lengthened and increased the capacity of the Rangeley Chair, obtained approval of a 10 Year Plan for the mountain and a 4-season resort
    village, and added on-mountain lodging with the Rock Pond, South Branch and Mountain Brook Condominiums. Progress continues with the following improvements:
NEW KENNEBAGO QUAD CHAIRLIFT
A Dopplemayr quad chairlift replaces the
Kennebago T-bar which was difficult to ride because of the steep terrain. The new chair will now provide easy access to the spectacular high-elevation advanced terrain with incredible views of the lakes and Western Maine Mountains.
* Length: 2709 feet.
* Vertical Rise: 960 ft.
* Gradient: 34% * Capacity: four passengers.
* Terrain Serviced: 15 trails and glades. (12 advanced, 2 more difficult, 1 easier)
LARGEST ADVANCED SKIING COMPLEX IN THE EAST

The new chair provides easy access to what was already the largest self-contained advanced skiing complex in the East. The black diamond terrain is in a bowl that is separate from the rest of the ski area. Three advanced trails were added in the bowl this summer. The new lift services 12 Top-to-Bottom advanced skiing runs.
NOVICES & INTERMEDIATES CAN SKI FROM THE SUMMIT -- FOR THE FIRST TIME
The new quad chairlift also allows novice and intermediate skiers to ski from the summit for the first time. Novices can now enjoy the panoramic views and ski along the 4000 ft. ridge amongst rime-frosted conifers before descending to the base via the 3.1 mile America and Hudson Highway trails. Intermediates can ski Tri-Color and Green Weaver, a one mile loop, back to the Kennebago Chair.
4 NEW TRAILS
Black Beauty, Frost Bite and Artula (black diamond) were added off the new Kennebago Quad Chair. Hornberg (green circle) is a new easier trail in the South Branch beginner/family area which also provides access to ski-in ski-out trails for the South Branch and Mountain Brook condominiums.

NEW RENTAL AND RETAIL SHOPS
Saddleback will now operate the rental and retail shops in the base lodge that were previously operated by a lessee. This season the rental shop will have a new fleet of rental skis, boards, boots, bindings and poles. The retail shop will have a new inventory of clothing and accessories.
