Granite Peak
| | Wonderful little ski resort very close to my home. Not a huge place by any standards but quite large by local standards. Says Dexter.
This is a 4-5 hour drive from the n/w side of Chicago . . . and *definately* worth it. Some buddies and I go up for a few days every winter and I have to say, this is the best you're going to find without doubling your driving time or hopping on an airplane. Says Andy.
i have lived and snowboarded in Colorado |
and Austria. For the Midwest only Lutsen in Minn. can be compared! The vertical keeps you challenged unlike the resorts in the U.P. and the rest of the Midwest! Only 3 hrs from Milwaukee!!! love it if you are in the Midwest
| and can't head WEST!!! Says surfsno2001.
Granite Peak is I think the best ski area in the region. There are lots of runs for everybody. I like the black diamonds but my wife and kids like the blues and greens so this is perfect for us since it has plenty of all three. Says Max.
There's 275 acres of skiable area, and it's all in wonderful condition. The yearly snowfall of 6 feet keeps the coverage good. Granite Peak is a fuller-size than average ski | |

hill featuring a high drop when you compare it to other ski resorts in the region. Granite Peak has the most sizeable altitude difference among ski resorts in a 646 mile radius. With a 700 foot drop from top to bottom it's not the
highest hill there is, but all the other tremendous properties of Granite Peak compensate for it. Having a totality of 74 slopes to ski on; there's a great mixture to gratify everyone. The 8 good ski lifts here make for a peaceful
ride up the slope. Granite Peak has a first-rate collection of ski slopes and sufficient good ski lifts to serve them all. Granite Peak has an average share of tough ski slopes and an average share of beginner and intermediate ski
slopes. Plenty of skiers travel up here from Wausau, specially on the weekends. Good exercise and an opportunity to spend some time in the great outdoors are wonderful causes to come. Granite Peak receives less than average snow each
snow season. Granite Peak has a good selection of slopes to fit all abilities; it won’t leave anyone bored. Skiing and snowboarding here in Wisconsin is lots of fun all winter season long. No deficiency of nice hotel rooms, but if
you don’t have reservations, you will possibly end up slumbering in your vehicle. When this segment of Wisconsin is blanketed in beautiful snow; it is truly a good time of year for skiing or snowboarding.
