The Homestead
| | I skied at The Homestead a lot when I was a kid. I learned to ski there, and I have many good memories of that place. I've been skiing much bigger mountains since then, but I still think The Homestead is great. Says Frank.

| 45 acres, it's small-size enough to get to know all your fellow skiers. The 4 feet of fluffy snow that fall here per year is not exceptionally high, but it's reasonable. No matter if you're skiing or snowboarding, in this general neighborhood, you'll run into a lot of ski mountains. This ski hill has 9 ski trails, and they are great to ski on. having an average vertical drop when you compare it to other ski mountains in the region. The yearly snowfall is lighter than average at The Homestead. There are 5 different ski lifts here, and they make for a calming ride up the
slope. No lack of magnificent hotel rooms, but you'd better book prior to departure because these hotel rooms fill up swiftly. This ski area is a small site with a welcoming staff. You get scores of skiers traveling up here from Roanoke
on snow covered weekends. The ski run map of The Homestead on this net page unsurprisingly says a thousand words. The snowboarding and the skiing in Virginia is so much fun all through the snow season.
